Martin McCabe is Club Person of the Year 2017

Innisfree Wheelers Cycling Club has been going strong since it’s founding in the autumn of 2005. In that time we have had many members who worked tirelessly for the improvement of the club and the promotion of it’s various events and activities. Each year we select one member for special mention and award them with Club Person of the Year.

This year the deserving recipient was our outgoing secretary for the past three years, Martin McCabe. Although now retired from his career in An Garda Siochana, Martin is an extremely busy man. He is an active member of a local writers group and he even managed to publish his latest book in 2016. Another of his hobbies is his beloved birds (of the feathered variety). He also manages to be a very active member of his local community out there in Coolera and is a great family man also.

Martin was a very efficient secretary during his three year term in the job. All tasks were carried out promptly and with the minimum of fuss. His note taking and keen memory ensured that no small detail was ever omitted when it came to the organizing of an event which the club was involved in. Although Martin enjoys mostly cycling in sunny conditions, he is however a regular on our Tuesday and Thursday spins.

This year Martin stepped back from the busy secretaries job but he is still involved as a member of Wheelers committee. We value his knowledge and experience at this stage and look forward to having him on board as an active club member for many years to come. Congratulations Martin.
