Santa Cycle is on Sunday 6th of December
On Sunday the 6th of December at 11am, our annual Santa Cycle where all our members dress up in Santa gear and cycle around Strandill, Coolera, Ballisodare, Collooney and Ballygawley (about 30km) for a great local cause. Sligo Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal is the deserving recipient from this fun event. (See I-Donate link above)
However, this year due to Covid 19 restrictions, we will assemble in groups of ten and start at 30 minute intervals with the first group away at 11am
Registration takes place at the Knocknarea Arena Sligo IT from 10am on the day and entry fee/donation is just €15 payable on the day.
Following their thirty kilometer ride before finishing at the IT the Santa’s will ride in socially distant convoy down town – hopefully, much to the amusement of the many Christmas shoppers in the streets of Sligo.
This year we plan to do two laps of Sligo City Centre – to give the locals a chance to appreciate the pleasures of road cycling and also to have a great laugh! The event is confined this year to Club Members Only due to restrictions as there are no open leisure events being held.
The Santa Cycle brings the curtain down on our year’s activities – that is apart from the regular club spins, which hopefully will restart when restrictions are lifted at 9am and 10am on Sundays from IT Sligo and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am from Carraroe.
Some members also like to gather at Carraroe for a short spin on St Stephens Day at 10am to burn of what remains of the Christmas Turkey. This year we can do so also riding in smaller groups with no coffee stop.
If you would like to join us in Innisfree Wheelers in 2021 then you are welcome to come along to any of those spins and meet up with us – or fill out the feedback form on our website www.innisfreewheelers.com – and we will get back to you ASAP. You’ll find that when you meet up with us we are generally a friendly bunch.
