All systems go for Santa Cycle 6th Dec

Details of this years Santa Cycle being held on Sunday 6th of December.

The Santa Cycle as with all other events will be subject to the COVID restrictions returning to rules allowing us to cycle / train in smaller groups.

The club plan is to have 5 groups of 10 people ( club members only)in each group dressed of course in festive outfits 🎅🧚‍♂️cycling out at different times from Sligo IT. First two groups leaving at 11am , next two groups at 11.30 am and 1 final group at 12pm .

The route will be the same for all groups and will be the “village route” Sligo IT , Strandhill , Ransboro , Ballisodare ,Colooney Ballygawley and return through Sligo town and finish back at the IT – approx 40km.

Group A at 11am will cycle out from IT via Strandhill etc and group B will cycle out and do the same route in the reverse direction IT via Ballygawley etc.The same with the two groups at 11.30 am.

As COVID restrictions will hopefully be reduced by that time the club is still very conscious of not having large groups congregating even if they are dressed in happy Santa outfits 😁at the IT or along the route.

With this in mind anyone in the A groups will meet at the Fish sculpture at the IT and the B groups meet at the normal spot outside the sports arena.

The voluntary contribution will be the same as previous years with a min €15. We would be grateful if members can have the exact amount on the day and that will be collected by cycle leaders at each spin. The monies collected will be going to a great cause ,the Lions club food appeal, and I’m sure will be even more welcome this year with many more families requiring direct help with food parcels.

As with previous club Santa cycles the main focus will be to dress up in silly outfits have a fun day out cycling together and help a worthy charity. More than any other year we need a break from what’s going on around us and unfortunately we cant cycle out in 1 large group but I think we can have a fantastic fun outing in the smaller groups .It will be worth it all to bring a bit of cheer and see the happy faces of people in their cars and on the streets as we cycle past.

Members wishing to sign up and hopefully that will be many can call or text Niall Hopper on 0863706004 who will arrange a suitable time slot and group.

Thanks to the 5 spin leaders who have already volunteered to lead the groups .
