Enter Santa Cycle Here
Starting at Sligo ATU this year at 11am (with sign on from 10am). Online Entry only this year is just €20 (Cycling Ireland members) and proceeds will go again this year to Sligo Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal. Entry links can be found on the clubs Facebook page and the clubs website as well as Event master website. Non-Cycling Ireland members can also enter for an extra insurance fee with total entry costing €30.
The cycle will come over Ash Lane and then head out towards Finisklin via Hughes Bridge. With the beautiful Knocknarea in sight as the Santa’s emerge on to the R292 road, they then head for the scenic seaside village of Strandhill.
Pausing here for a quick coffee and to take in the fresh sea air along the promenade. They might even break into song at this stage also. Last year the weather was great, and the Wheelers provided choral entertainment for over half an hour at the Cannon in Strandhill.
From Strandhill the Santa’s head via Culleenamore to Ransboro circumventing Queen Maeve on their left-hand side.
The riders then head straight into Sligo town via Maugheraboy and Churchhill Road, before circling Sligo Town centre and pausing a few times to break into some Christmas Carols.
They then return to Sligo ATU via Ash Lane. Some solid and liquid treats await the Santa’s at Connolly’s pub on Markievicz Road before they de-frock and return to the North Pole. The total cycle route is approximately 30km.
There are prizes this year for the best dressed Santa male and female, and also a prize for the best decorated bike.
