Sunday Away Spin from Carrick-on-Shannon – Club event held Sunday July 7th, 2024
Thirty plus club members attended the recent away spin from Carrick-On-Shannon on a perfectly sunny day. This is the first Sunday away spin in some years and was organised by club member Damian Tighe who put a huge amount of work into getting this spin off the ground and the planning really contributed to all who attended having a great day out. Damians’ work and leadership in the preparation for this spin is greatly appreciated by the club.
It was a great opportunity to get to know a new route and experience a leisure spin in a different area to where the club normally cycle and for the whole group of attendees to socialise.
There were two routes to choose from;
(a) 80km, leaving C-O-Shannon – Strokestown – Rooskey (coffee stop) – Dromod –
Mohill – Keshcarrigan – C-O-Shannon.
(b) 60km, leaving C-O-Shannon – Strokestown – Rooskey (coffee stop) – Drumsna,
Jamestown – C-On-Shannon.
Both groups met up for a coffee stop at Rooskey which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. And a great lunch was had at the end of the spin at the Landmark hotel in Carrick- on-Shannon.
