Innisfreewheelers Club Person of the Year

(above Monica Hopper , Mairead Casserly and Darren Clancy L to R)

At our recent AGM held on the 5th of November, as usual the club person of the year was announced and this year we had not one but two well deserving recipients Monica Hopper Club Secretary and Darren Clancy Club Treasurer. Each received an engraved mantel clock with the club emblem design on it and they get to share the club glass bowl trophy over the year ahead. This was presented on the night by our club Chairperson Mairead Casserly. Both were sincerely congratulated by all in attendance. Monica has spent much of her time this year involved in setting up systems for a more smooth running of the club; this includes streamlining the secretarial contact with cycling Ireland, use of forms for event management and new member sign up and initiation.
Keeping meetings on time and on course and producing very timely club minutes. Also being a most valuable and welcoming contact for all those looking to join the club. Darren had been heavily involved in the organising of the design and installation of the well-appointed bench memorial for Pam Benson RIP at the C of I church in Ballymote. Darren has also been our treasurer for two years for which he was commended at the AGM . Darren is heavily involved in organising the time trial events over the summer and helps out whenever needed on sub-committees and also devised a step by step to-do list which has been invaluable for those involved in event sub-committees. We also wish Monica all the best as she leaves her role as secretary to fully enjoy her retirement.
