Santa Suits Cycle to Strandhill Sunday December 8th, 2024
On Sunday the 8th of December, the club was involved in our Christmas fun event ‘The Santa Suits Cycle’ where members discard their Lycra club colours and take up seasonal outfits including Santa suits, Elf costumes, Christmas pyjamas and anything else of christmas time that people are brave enough to cycle in. All Cyclists pay to enter this event and all funds go to Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal
Thirty Five Santas and helpers cycled out to Strandhill this year in surprisingly good weather conditions and brought great amusement and fun to all who spotted them. The Carol singing at the seafront in Strandhill was followed on the return to Sligo Town by a social gathering with music, dancing and singing in Connolly’s Bar , after having completed two circuits of Sligo Town. Refreshments were provided by Connolly’s Bar and Food was laid on by club members. This is always a very enjoyable event in the clubs’ Calender and was considered especially so this year.
Prizes were awarded for best Mr Clause and Mrs Clause outfits(sponsors Kates’s Kitchen) which were presented to Norah Redmond and Rob Scott and best decorated bikes (sponsors Gary Cycles) was awarded to John Delorey. All in all a most enjoyable weekend for the club. We are pleased to announce that the total amount collected by the club for the Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal over the weekend including a generous donation from Connolly’s Pub was
Eur 2,610.
