On
Saturday April
24th we staged our first club event of
the year The Tour of the Three Counties
which was yet again a huge success.
Almost sixty cyclists set off from
the Clarion Hotel on the 80k route to Bundoran, Kinlough, Manorhamilton and back
to Sligo.
The weather conditions proved ideal for
the event apart from a short period of
the event when a head wind blew up
heading in on the Manorhamilton section.
All who took part really enjoyed the day
especially the Food Stop at Kinlough
which was yet again the highlight of the
day and we must pay tribute to the
Martina, Colette and Philomena for
the service they provided along with all
the club members who provided food.
Monies gathered on the day along with
outstanding sponsorship cards will go to
the Friends of Cregg House which is a
very deserving local cause that do some
excellent work. Well done again to all
who took part and helped out on the day
to provide a great days cycling.
See some action from the event
here.
Next event on the agenda is the Pink
Ribbon Event next Saturday May 1st which
has a start at Days Hotel Castlebar with
Registration from 9.30am and a start
time of 11.00am.All funds on the day go
to the Mayo Pink Ribbon Cancer Appeal.
The distance
of the route is 100km.All enquiries to
Club Secretary at 086-1005219.
Over the next few weeks members will be
putting the final touches to their
training for the local An Post event
which at the time of going to press has
now up on 700 cyclist registered. Any
club member who has not registered for
any of the events should do so this
week.
Also any club member who wishes to
attend the Pasta Party on the night
prior to the event should also get their
entry in for this reason as you have to
request a place when registering. This
night should prove to be one of the
highlights of the weekend with Sean
Kelly in attendance for a Question and
Answer session.
Club Members should also keep in mind
that no matter what event you are taking
part in the An Post event, that your
assistance on the morning of the event
from 7.30am will be required at the
Start and Registration location at Sligo
I.T. in order to set up the various
points. This cannot be completed by
four or five people as with the numbers
looking at being quite large for this
years event.
Sligo Tri Club Time Trial Series starts
on Tuesday 27th at Rosses Point with
Registration from 6.00pm.This will be
staged over a period of weeks running
into May and June on ten different
