The club members - and friends were unable take to the saddle
on Sunday 20th December on our Annual Charity Cycle - due to the
very inclement weather. Club secretary John Greene, in consultation
with the Chairman and Group leader decided that safety was the first
priority and that the road conditions were anything but suitable for
this spin. However we hope to have this spin before the Christmas
holiday season is over - so keep in training - on the rollers if
necessary!
The spin this year is in
aid of Cregg House. This traditional cycle takes place around Lough
Gill (about 40k) with the obligatory rest-stop for sustenance in
Dromahair.
Instead of finishing as usual at Sligo IT we take
a small detour to Thomas Connolly's pub (See our sponsors) and here
popular club man Gerry Nicholson plays host to the membership with
the aid of a few hot ones and some mince pies and Pam's chocolate
cake.
Usually following this most members are collected
and the bikes dispatched to the sheds for a few days (or in some
cases for a few weeks) and the years cycling is recalled and many
members plan their next years racing and sportive challenges here
also.
