Collette Hennigan

The club's popular number one women's racer Collette Hennigan was awarded the Club Person of the Year at our recent end-of-year function held at The Harp Tavern, Sligo. Collette is one of the most dedicated club cyclists where she seldom misses a training session and takes part in many events both locally and nationally.

She was successful in winning her section in the Connacht Time Trial series this year, despite having suffered a horrific fall from her mountain bike in mid-July. Collette is an inspiration to other members, especially the younger generation and the new members who have signed up for membership in 2010.

Just prior to her accident, Collette had been selected to represent Connacht (and our club) in the Ras na mBan which took  place over three days commencing on 12th of September. This was the equivalent to the FBD Ras except with only female participants. This was a great honour for Collette - and for our club which has only completed its third full year in existence.

Thankfully Collette is now well back on track and showing a clean pair of wheels to some of the lads - especially on the gruelling mountain bike sessions on Wednesday nights! From all members of Innisfree Wheelers we say "Well Done Collette and Best of Luck for a great season's racing and touring in 2010".
