Good Luck to All in An Post Challenge

We look forward to next Sunday May 9th to what looks like being the biggest participation event ever to be staged in Sligo with the 2010 An Post Tour of Sligo. The current numbers of competitors now has gone over the one thousand mark and could be higher by the day of the event.

All going well and with the signs of the weather being good it should be a spectacular days cycling and with the added bonus of the great Sean Kelly on board as one of the big attractions.

For those who are cycling it is of the utmost importance that they have their bike in top class condition for the day by either bringing it to the local bike shop or giving it a check over yourself. Items such as chains ,tyres and tyre pressure are a must. Along with this if you are not a regular cyclist a pump and spare tube could come in useful.

Last and by no means least is a helmet, you will not be able to take part in any of the events on the day if you don not have one. Any cyclist at this stage who is taking part in the 60km or 160km and has being training for the events do not make the big mistake and try to push in extra miles this coming week. What ever you have done should be done at this stage and rest is more important now to prepare for Sunday.

Maybe a couple of short spins and for those doing the longer 160km and have done some hard miles a sports massage would not go a miss. On the day of the event even though there will be plenty of water and food stops bring the required drinks and bars and hydrate regularly on route. Good luck to all taking part and enjoy the day
