Seamus completes La Marmotte 2008: Club chairman and training group leader, Seamus McGowan recently completed one of cycling's biggest hill-climb challenges in France. La Marmotte is a classic cyclo sportive event based in the French Alps. It is held over a classic Alpine route that rivals the L’Etape du Tour. The 174km event starts in Bourg d’Oisans and climbs the Col de la Croix Fer, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier before returning to Bourg d’Oisans and finishes up the 21 hairpin bend climb to the ski station of L’Alpe d’Huez. Congratulations Seamus on this fantastic achievement. Seamus has recorded some images of his experiences in the Alps here

New Club Training Schedule: As a result of the popularity of the Tuesday and Thursday morning spins the club have decided to have just one evening spin for the remainder of the summer - on Wednesday evenings, commencing at 6:30pm from Carraroe school car-park.

Club riders in Mayo League TT: Every second Tuesday evening the club send some racers to the time trial series staged around Castlebar Co Mayo. Seamus McGowan has returned some great times in both the 30k and 40k events. Collette Hennigan also recently achieved a PB with 53.11 for 30k which gives her a very high placing in the ladies section. Paul Flynn and Timmy McCarthy are also regular competitors over the various distances. The series runs until the end of August.
