The fourth event in the Sligo Triathlon/Eire Og time trial series took place on June 25th at Rosses Point and Innisfree Wheelers were very well represented with no less than seven members taking part.

Steven Mullane was in his fourth consecutive appearance in the event - not having missed any so far. Paul Flynn missed out on the wet and windy third event the previous week but came back strongly on this occasion. These two regulars were joined on this occasion in the 26km event by Paul Keogh, Tom Kolsh, Colette Hennigan, Enda Scanlon and Seamus McGowan.

Paul Keogh was fastest of the Innisfree brigade, recording a great time of 41:47 for the distance on what was quite a blustery evening. Paul is having a great seasons racing so far and with the rumour of the purchase of a specially built time-trial bike in the near future - who knows what times he might record before the end of this season!!

The finishing order of the IWCC seven were as follows:

Paul Keogh                41.47
Tom Kolsh                 43:05
Paul Flynn                 43:11
Seamus McGowan     43:28
Colette Hennigan        43:54
Stephen Mullane        44:26
Enda Scanlon            44:33

The next event on June 1st is a hill-climb time trial on the familiar Muragh mountain stretch near Manorhamilton Co Leitrim. This should suit climbers such as McGowan and Keogh with the clubs specialized climber the diminutive Alan Kelly expected to add to the Innisfree contingent on this occasion.

Following this hill climb Kelly and Flynn will depart for the Annual Welsh Dragon Ride on Sunday 6th of June. This event is a 192km hilly sportive considered to be the best in the British Isles. This will be Flynn's third visit and Kelly will be making his debut in the famous Brecon Beacons.

Bon Voyage also to active club cyclist Pam Benson who departs for New York and Canada for two weeks accompanying the great Professor Steven Hawkins on a lecture tour. On her return in mid-June Pam will be preparing for her conquest of the Italian Dolomites on the 4th of July. She is accompanied on this gruelling event by veteran cyclist Brendan Brogan. More about this and other sportives coming up in the next few weeks...
