This event was once again a great success and took place on Saturday 26th of September in almost perfect cycling weather conditions . Over 70 participants registered and collected their "goody bag" and got a short briefing prior to the event. The tour departed from The Clarion Hotel at 11am and headed for Dromahair in the Hazelwood direction. The first rest stop was at the scenic site of Parkes Castle. On reaching the picturesque village of Dromahair the women were treated to a welcome complimentary meal break with a variety of food and drinks on offer

The route then took the tourers via Innisfree crossroads to the next rest-stop at Dooney Rock. Here the cyclists got get a chance to re-group before taking on the slight climb at Aughamore. Prior to taking the final downhill spin into Sligo the cyclists will again re-assemble at Pearse Road.

The total distance for the tour was about 40 Kilometres and with rest stops this did not prove too daunting even the most novice of cyclist. Well done to all the women who participated and in doing so raised some very valuable funds for The Marie Keating Cancer Foundation.

See some pictures from the event here and here.

Innisfree Wheelers also wish to thank all the voluntary helpers and An Garda Siochana for their valuable assistance.

We also wish to acknowledge the assistance of Sligo Sports Partnership:

Training: Women's Group Touring continues at Sligo IT commencing every Saturday at 2pm
