Next Saturday 24th April we stage our Annual
Tour of the Three Counties and if the
interest that has been shown from clubs in
neighbouring counties is anything to go by
then a big crowd of cyclists should appear
on the day. As with all events the weather
will certainly help so we hope for a good
influx of dry and sunny weather for the day.
Registration for the 80km event takes place
at the Canus Major building to the front of
the Clarion Hotel.
10am is start time with registration from
9am. Entry Fee will be 20euro for Non
Cycling Ireland members and 10euro for
Cycling Ireland members. All club members
are requested to turn out on the day and if
not to cycle they they can assist at Start
or Food Stop in Kinlough. This years event
is a fundraiser in aid of the Friends of
Cregg House and Sponsorship Cards are
available form 086-1005219. A post event
function will be held on the night for all
participants.
Club members in general have had a very busy
week from been involved in a range of club spins
to a number of very important meetings. Spins
went out on five of the past seven days which at
this stage is covering a complete range
in
levels of cyclists. The Tuesday and Thursday
Spins are still proving very popular with large
crowds going out on all days. The Saturday
morning spon is catering for both disability
cyclist, ladies and youth riders. It is hoped to
extend this spin throughout the summer and
people interested in coming along before or
after the An Post Tour are more than welcome.
Last
Sunday two spins went out at both 9am and
10am.Both spins were well attended and covered
three to four hours of cycling on two different
routes. On the 10am spin if anyone wishes to
join the spin will be adjusted with a loop to
return to the Sligo IT on a shorter route.
The
monthly meeting for April had a large attendance
and got through a large Agenda that was down for
discussion. The main item on the Agenda was the
ratification of a Club Constitution which had
been worked on since the start of the year.
Thankfully all went well on this item and the
members present passed a unanimous vote in
favour of the draft which was put to them. This
is a huge step for the club going forward and
will act as a template to guide the club on
future decisions in regard to the running of the
club. Great praise must go to John Delorey for
his hard work in compiling the main structure of
the constitution.
We send best wishes to the
Burke Family on their recent achievements in
events both at Connacht and National level.
Gavin, Edel and Andrea are proving to hot too
handle in some of their events and are showing
high placing in some top class fields.
Planning for the An Post Tour 2010 is almost
complete and all cyclists are encouraged to put
the finishing touches to their training
programmes and more important than any if you
have not Registered then please do so asap. The
Sean Kelly night which takes place the night
before the event in the Glasshouse has a limited
number of tickets and come on a first come first
served basis so its important to get in the
entry so as you can request these passes.
