This is quite a challenging piece on Mountain Biking - although it does not leave the tarred roads at any point. There is a very challenging climb from 10km to 17km and this constitutes most of the difficulty with this climb. It would also be quite a testing course on a road bike as the road surfaces are surprisingly good. The descent after the climb is also a revelation for mountain bikers - but for road cyclists this could be bordering on dangerous as there are quite a few nasty bends, a fair bit of gravel and not a few dogs to encounter along the way. As this particular spin was ridden in pitch darkness in Mid-December (see date and time on profile map) I would say that it must be quite scenic also on a Summers day. Must try that some time!!
