Sligo - Riverstown - Sligo
60km
Grade - Moderate
Starting at Sligo IT, turn left on to Ash Lane and right down The Mall. Cycle up Pearse Road to Carraroe roundabout. Exit left and left again and a sharp turn right onto the Ballygawley/Keadue road. After about 20km turn right for Riverstown. Stop a while in this peaceful village and maybe have a coffee at the local Heritage Centre. Start off again in the direction of the N4 but turn right after about 2km. This takes us on a quiet road parallel to the N4 in the Sligo direction. Exit onto the N4 just before Cloonamahon. Turn right and be careful crossing the N4 and take the hard shoulder into Colooney. After Collooney there is a choice of taking the old road through the village or continue on the dual carriageway. At Ballydroighead turn left for Strandhill. This will give an extra loop of about 12 kilometres. Continue straight through Strandhill on the upper road and head towards Sligo. At Cumeen turn left onto the coast road by Finisklin and the quays - this takes us to Hughes Bridge. Turn left here and then carefully take a right to Ash Lane and back to base.
