Sligo – Dromahair – Kilcoosey – Newtownmanor – Sligo

Although this ride is approx the same distance as Spin 1 (Lough Gill Loop), it contains a nasty hill-climb from the 19km mark to the 22km mark.

Take the Dromahair road via Ballinode junction with the N16 and follow Lough Gill in a clockwise direction. Take in the breath-taking beauty as you pass Parkes Castle.

At Dromahair take a short break for a coffee and snack and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful Leitrim village. In Dromahair village turn left for Manorhamilto direction (past Church of Ireland). After a few undulating short climbs you will come to the old Kilcoosey school at about 19km. Take a left here at bend and then veer slightly right on the road up the hill. This is where the climb commences.

The average gradient is about 7% but it hits 12% in places so be prepared for some time out of the saddle.

At the top of Bimbo mountain take in the panoramic view into Sligo before carefully descending onto the old Manorhamilton road at the foot of Muragh mountain. Take a left here for Sligo and it is down-hill riding all the way home via Newtownmanor and Calry.
