French Cyclists are hosted in Sligo by our members:
A group of French cyclists from
Sligo's French twin town, Crozon visited Sligo recently. This was
the culmination of a nationwide tour which took the cyclists to
Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and finally Donegal.
The cyclists met with our Thursday training group and were taken on
a circuit of Lough Gill. The rest-stop was for coffee and fruit
scones in The Abbey Manor Hotel in Dromahair. From here they went to
Parkes Castle - which would probably fit in the turret of most
French Castles!! Anyway from there they went to view the beautiful
Colgagh Lough.
They then returned to Sligo Town and were very impressed with the
spin along the lake at Doorly Park. From here they took an uphill
ride to The Holy Well before returning to Carraroe.
Later in the evening they enjoyed a dinner hosted by the Sligo town
twinning committee, before heading for the pub to round off the day
with a good session of traditional music. Thanks must go to our
member Brendan Brogan who organised the Sligo tour and
entertainment.
Pictured above are the French cyclists visiting The Holy Well with
Brendan, Eddie, Pam, Rosie and Allen. More pictures of the tour can
